Pa Bobo Jobarteh teaches children in the Gambia the ancient and traditional instrument of the kora. Constructed using 21 fishing lines, it takes hours of study and practice – and expertise passed on by the music master.
Pa Bobo is very active in the local community, bringing music into the lives of local and also worldwide students who sometimes visit for kora lessons. It is a lifetime’s work to teach the kora and the method has been handed down through generation upon generation in the traditional way.
IPAT supports Pa Bobo and helps keep a musical tradition alive by performing to a wide range of audiences and passing it to younger generations.
